Photos from Italy

This are the works that our Italian pupils have made using papier-maché.
They have been inspired by a classic Italian tale "Pinocchio" and they made the masks for the fox, the cat and Pinocchio itself.
They have decided to make one of the most impressive scenes in the tale, that's to say the scene of  "The Money Tree in the Field of Miracles".

Here you can see some photos of the masks. Enjoy them!!!
In Italy - particularly in Tuscany- there is a tradition of craftsmen of papier mache; they prepare allegoric floats for the Carnival Parade.

Workshops of pupils from Poland

Our first workshops were based on the work with wood and paper.  We involved pupils from younior hight school (in age from 14 to 17). Małgorzata Maniakowska was the teacher who leaded these classes.
The aim was to make the work which contain artistic feature as well as functional. It refers to proffessions, which can be done by  our pupils in the future.

Pupils prepared following materials before beginning workshops :
-       -  collecting broken up branches in the forest and in the park which were cut to small pieces and the area of them was made smooth with the abrasive paper,
        -  buying colourful wooden beads, papier of different colour and texture,
        - collecting cardboard boxes from shops,
    - making string from tissue paper.

These classes were led in a method of workshop which means that each pupil made individual components separately and later it was combant in to one work.

The work was devided in to a few stages: composing, drawing, copying, cutting out lining, attaching. After these stages it was possible to assemble the work into the whole. Pupils chose the lecture room as a place of presentation.
Thw work is devided in two parts:
I.                   the upper part - the low  relief in the form of the rosette or flower. It fulfils the decorative function as the portal above the door
II.                 the lower part  - first of all it is fullfilling the functional function and indirectly the decorative function.

It can replace the door in casings, net curtains and curtains in windows. It can serve as the screen or or the decoration on the wall. It can also fulfil the therapeutic function in pedagogic and psychological rooms. Our work reforce in door style which was common in the past. It often replaces door in the kitchen. Our work was changed and improved by function mentioned above.

The aims of the workshops were following::
-        developing and improving abilities which can be used in such a professions as carpenter, bookbinder, painter, paperhanger, bricklayer
-         developing the beauty, aesthetics, the accuracy and the perfectionism at pupils,
-      training ability of developing the space.
